Biography

2003-2005

IN MEMORIAM

Regarding its origins, the band IN MEMORIAM, later called REMEMBRANCES (now RAINOVER), is born in Murcia, in October 2003, when Antonio López (guitars), Haydée Mariñoso (vocals) gather to create a gothic metal band.

Arturo Hernandez (keyboards) contacts Haydée and Antonio and decides to join and form the band with them, working on the songs, music and melodies that these 3 members are composing. Later, Fran, the new drummer, joins the band for a short time.

In 2004, after Fran leaves the band, José Daniel joins the band as a new drummer. The band, called IN MEMORIAM, open a basic website and records a never released demo of 5 songs (“Crystal Tears”, “Scars of my soul”, “Anguish”, “Wish”, and “See the Grief”) at the FOCUS recording studios (San José de la Vega, Murcia), from Jesús Segado.

Later, in 2005 the band gets a stable line up after the joining of Joaquín Martínez (bass guitars) and Quini Pelegrín (drummer), being already able to prepare more songs for the first LP.

2005-2011

REMEMBRANCES

Between March and October 2006, under the new name REMEMBRANCES, the band records their first LP called “Crystal Tears” in Tatxin studios (Totana, Murcia), produced by Raúl Manrique, containing 11 songs (5 of them were part of the previous demo), most of them composed by the keyboardist Arturo Hernández, and being finally edited in 2008.

Since then, they offer a long list of concerts all around the Spanish geography, sharing stage with international bands like Kells, To-Mera, Regardless of Me, etc. and national bands such as Ebony Ark, Blood, Code Name, Enuma Elish, Niobeth…

They also take part in numerous musical contests, getting several prizes, standing out the third position at Stage Mediatic, which allows them to play in the prestigious MEDIATIC FESTIVAL 2008 (along with bands like The Waterboys, Fangoria, Los Suaves, Loquillo, Saratoga, Savia, Porretas…), or the selection as semifinalists, that same year, in the international “Villa de Bilbao contest 2008”.

At the same time, the band present their first work in several media such as Punto Radio, Onda Regional de Murcia, Canal 7 Región de Murcia, Opinión TV…

First line-up of Remembrances

In late 2008, Joaquín (bass) leaves Remembrances and Antonio Perea, bassist and singer of the doom metal band Eternal Cry, takes his place, providing vocals to the band too.

In 2009, one of the biggest hits in the road comes when, after receiving more than 31.000 votes via internet for their spanish song “Espejismo” (music by Arturo Hernández and lyric by Haydée Mariñoso), they are selected as semifinalists to represent Spain in the EUROVISION FESTIVAL 2009, participating in the performances broadcasted in “Eurovision 2009: the return” on Televisión Española (TVE), as long as making other appearances in press, radio and television.

That same year, 2009, Remembrances receive an offer by the management agency Alkemist-Fanatix Europe (Italy) for the distribution of their debut album “Crystal Tears” all around Europe, which finally leads, in 2010, to an offer by Carlo Bellotti, director of the agency, to become one of the signed bands of Alkemist-Fanatix Europe and get their second album produced and recorded at MathLab Studio, Italy.

2011

RAINOVER

In April 2011, after two years composing new songs and recording a new demo of 15 songs for a second album (most of them composed by the keyboardist Arturo Hernández), its members decide to say goodbye to the singer Haydée Mariñoso, but, for legal reasons, they have to change the name of the band, keeping the same line-up, the musical direction, the work done during their period as REMEMBRANCES, and the 11 songs, just finished and selected from that demo, which would be part of that second album. This is how the songs from Remembrances became part of Rainover’s repertoire.

After an intense search, in May 2011, Andrea Casanova is selected to join the band as a new vocalist.

With a new singer, but still without a name, the band heads to Prato, Italy, in August 2011 for the recordings of their second album (first as RAINOVER) ‘Transcending the blue and drifting into rebirth’, at MathLab Recording Studios, under the production of Carlo Bellotti, director of Alkemist-Fanatix Europe, and with Jonathan Mazzeo as sound engineer. In December 2011 the band officially changes its name and starts to work as RAINOVER.

The new album consists of 11 songs, and is mastered by Dennis Koehne and Waldemar Sorychta at Flying Pigs Studio in Germany . The artwork is done by Mario Sánchez Nevado (Aégis Illustration).

Regarding the authorship of the songs after the album “Crystal tears”, the band decides that, although most of them are based on original ideas composed (in many cases in their entirety) and recorded by the keyboardist Arturo Hernández, it will be shared equally between their members.

The álbum is finally edited and distributed in 2014 all around Europe, USA and Japan by the label Aural Music.

After touring in their home country, Spain (WOA Metal Battle Spain 2016, among other festivals), and abroad (Dames of Darkness Festival, Bilston, England, among others), and obtaining a warm welcome by press and listeners alike, the band begins to record the demo of what will be their third album “NOX” (second as RAINOVER).Then, its members say goodbye to their guitarist Antonio López.

After a long search, Antonio Garcia is selected to join the band as the new guitarist, giving the gothic metal sound that the band needed. The new album NOX is ready to be recorded.

“NOX” is again produced and recorded in Mathlab Recording Studio (Italy), mastered by Dennis Koehne (Alemania), and counts with special guest Anders Jacobsson, vocalist of swedish Draconian , on the track “Lumina Omnia”. The booklet is designed by Mario Sánchez Nevado (Aégis Illustration) again.

Rainover is ready to present their most complex and dark work to date, “NOX”. Along its 11 songs, “NOX” is conceived as a sort of premonition of an era of darkness to come upon Earth as a result of humanly greed and estrangement from nature.

In 2019, Antonio Garcia leaves the band, and after Rafael Lucas joined the band for a brief time, Alejandro Yuste joins the band as the new guitarist. Rainover present “NOX” in 2023, playing in festivals like Rock Imperium in Cartagena.
